Marissa Russell: I Never Dreamed of Being an Entrepreneur

July 15, 2016kaylaroxasGet InspiredNo comments

Welcome to Feature Friday, where we feature the story of an inspiring woman entrepreneur.

(PS. Do you want to be featured next? Find out how at the bottom of this post!)

This week we are featuring Marissa Russell of The High Achieving Woman. Marissa Russell

Marissa says she never dreamed of being an entrepreneur, but fell into it from following her passion. She advises to always have a backup in case your business plans fall through. Read more below:

1. What inspired you to become an entrepreneur?

I never dreamed of being an entrepreneur, but I ended up on this path because I wanted to become a life coach, and most life coaches own their own coaching businesses. It wasn’t something I always envisioned for myself, but I am happy that I took the path that I did.

2. What entrepreneur do you look up to most that inspires you and why?

I would definitely say Oprah. I truly admire all of the projects that Harpo Productions has successfully pulled off and admire the fact that Harpo is still privately-held after all of these years that she could have gone public.

3. What has been your biggest challenge as an entrepreneur?

My biggest challenge as an entrepreneur is the fact that as a life coach, I am in a business that sells intangibles. The fact that my coaching services enable people to transform their lives is not something that I can easily showcase in a stock image the way I could a physical product. Thus, people who do not come to me already understanding what life coaching is and its value could have difficulty understanding why the prices are justified for results that they can’t physically see.

4. What’s the biggest piece of advice would you give to women who are looking to start or grow their own business?

Always have something else to fall back on. The fact still stands that going into business for yourself is quite risky, so you never want to be in a position where if your business has hit a slump that you have no other means of making money.

5. Share your business with us. What do you do and where can people find you to connect?

Through my business, The High Achieving Woman, I am a Certified Life Coach who coaches typically high achieving women who have fallen off track back to their high performing state. You can find me at www.thehighachievingwoman.com, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
